Modern electrical consumer products manufactured in Taiwan include calculators
and watches, kitchen appliances, audiovisual equipment, and computers, among others.
For these items, it is best to shop only at government-approved department stores,
where the electrical items for sale are generally of export quality, quality, mostly UL-and
FCC -approved, and safer and more durable than cheaper items purchased from night
markets or small stores.
The Kuang Hua Market, (under the overpass at Pateh Rd., Sec. 1 and Hsinsheng S.
Rd.) has scores of shops offering computers and parts, software, electronic games and
gadgets, and second-hand books. The selection is vast and prices are competitive.
Hsimenting has a variety of shops offering calculators, watches, radios, and stereos.
