Clothing
Whether you purchase inexpensive casual wear at a night market or designer labels at a department store, with a little careful shopping, clothing is another good bargain in Taiwan. Comparison shopping is the name of the game.

Custom-made clothes for men and women are usually a very good deal in Taiwan. Many tailors have shops in or near larger international hotels. Most of them stock a wide selection of imported fabrics, and some can complete an order in 24 hours. Many tailor shops are located on Chungshan North and Linsen North roads, and many have clerks who speak some English.

The traditional form-fitting Chinese evening gown, the chi-pao or cheong-sam, is famous for its feminine allure. Many shops specializing in women's clothing are located on Poai and Hengyang roads in the Hsimenting district, and they can deliver a tailored chi-pao in anywhere from 24 hours to three days.

Low-priced , off-the-rack clothing for men, women, and children can be found at stores in Dinghao, on Nanking East Rd., Sec. 4, and in Hsimenting, not far from the Taipei Railway Station.
