Things to Remember

  1. Many diving gear rental shops in Taiwan do not accept credit cards. Please pay in cash.
  2. Divers should carry their passports and diving certifications.
  3. Spearguns are controlled items in Taiwan and licenses are required for them. Do not bring them into the island.
  4. Some rental shops handle only the most basic diving gear. You might want to bring Your own equipment, but renting weight belts and tanks is not a problem.
  5. The metric system is used in Taiwan, so depth and pressure measurements are mostly given in meters and kilograms per square centimeter.
  6. In general, American naval decompression tables are used.
  7. A wetsuit of 3mm thickness is adequate during the summer; in winter, a 5mm wetsuit with vest is recommended.
  8. Taiwan uses 200 - 250 BAR aluminum alloy tanks. Regulators have international connections.
  9. The best times for diving are April through October.
