Rating of Taiwan's Diving Areas

Listed below, in declining order of excellence, are Taiwan's five top diving areas. The rating takes into consideration a combination of factors, including underwater environment, scenery, and clarity of the water.

1.Green and Orchid Islands
2. Kenting
3. Southern Taiwan and the Penghu Islands
4. Northeastern Taiwan
5. Northern Taiwan

Diving Methods

Diving in Taiwan is divided into two categories depending on how the water is entered: shore diving, and boat diving. In general, shore diving is the more popular. The craft used for boat diving are mainly motor yachts, Chinese fishing boats, and Taiwan's unique motorized "bamboo rafts" (now made, however, of plastic pipes).
