The Chichi Railway Lin

Checheng Station

¡@Checheng is only about 2 kilometers from Shuili. This was where materials for the construction of the Takuan Power Station were stored. Because of this it was originally called Waichecheng, or "Outer Machinery Yard"; in 1961, the name was shorted to Checheng, or "Machinery Yard." This is the terminus of the Chichi Line, and it has been known as "the most beautiful little station." It still has some of the equipment that was used in the old days to load water and coal for steam locomotives, adding considerably to its historical interest.

12. Mingtan and Minghu Power Station
¡@A large dam has been built here to catch water discharged from Sun Moon Lake, forming another man-made lake to catch the reflections of the surrounding mountains and forests. Minghu Reservoir was finished in 1981 as the first pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in Taiwan; it is the largest reservoir power station in Asia, and it has the largest underground power station in the Far East.
